The APIA Quarterly business meeting will follow at 11:am.  We will cover the usual business of the APIA, then discussion will follow regarding the proposed legislation.  This is being written now by the Legislative Service Agency and will likely be available for discussion on the 27th.  In general, the proposal calls for the following elements that will improve our standards and bring us in line or exceed regulatory acts of our neighboring states.

  1. APPRENTICESHIP LICENSE: Providing easier access to the profession through lower license fees, and providing training and experience opportunities for entry level applicants.
  2. EXPERIENCE requirements for those applying for full licensing.  Minimum standards of 2 years experience relating to investigations will be required.  These may be combined from prior experience in corporate, education, military or law enforcement.
  3. AGENCY licenses will be required for any individual or entity whose primary function is providing investigations in the private sector and employs or hires other investigators.  Solo or investigators who work solo and do not hire other investigators are exempt from Agency Licensing.
